Is your hair dry, dull and chemically abused? It’s time to face the facts: Your hair is in desperate need of rehab.
THE PROBLEM – FLAKY SCALP
It’s the problem people find most embarrassing when it comes to hair. Dandruff is caused by an over-production of yeast and associated with an oily scalp. Triggers like stress, hormones, illness and even some medication can make dandruff worse.
Shampoos that contain salicylic acid are
great flake fighters, investing in a scalp scrub is a great way to cleanse the scalp and not just your hair.

THE PROBLEM – FRIZZ
If you weren’t born with frizzy hair, you could develop it as an adult thanks to over-processing with either colour or heat which all compromise the hair cuticle, allowing the hair to dry out and seek moisture elsewhere.
Heat protection and deep conditioning treatments are a must. Start with a frizz-fighting shampoo and conditioner and style with products that are aimed at anti-frizz and hydrate. Apply to damp hair and use a round brush to blow dry the hair smooth. Make sure your hair is completely dry then blast the cool air setting to close the hair cuticle to ensure your hair doesn’t revert to its frizzy, kinky ways.

THE PROBLEM – SPLIT ENDS
Caused by pulling, processing, over-styling and even the sun, split ends are you hairs number one enemy, making it more vulnerable to wear and tear.
Split ends start at the bottom and make their way up like a ladder in a pair of tights! Hairdressers agree that to prevent further damage, split ends must be cut off. There is not one type of hair that’s more prone to splitting, but if your hair constantly splits, you can guarantee it must be something you’re doing, whether its rough handling, over-processing, or daily heat-styling without protection. We recommend ghd Rehab Advanced Split End Therapy Cream which is activated by the heat of your styling tools.

THE PROBLEM – CHEMICAL DAMAGE
Colour may help hair to look thicker but regular highlighting and single process colour breaks down the hairs structure, making it weaker and more vulnerable to damage.
When it comes to bleach, hair texture becomes coarse, dry, dull and brittle, especially with repeat colouring. What’s the solution? Putting the moisture back with an intensive conditioner. Always use heat protection when styling. Give coloured hair the extra TLC and protection it needs and you’ll save it from frizz, breakage and split ends.

THE PROBLEM – OILY ROOTS
While some of us are born with oily hair, some women admit to their hair becoming greasy shortly after washing, with hormones playing their part in over-stimulating sebaceous glands.
Dry shampoo is your best friend when dealing with oily hair, the good news is that you can train your hair to not become greasy so quickly. Your hair has been relying on you to wash it once it does, however the less you wash it the less your hair will expect it, why not opt for a slick back bun or a high pony on days you would usually wash, grease in these styles is your best friend. Invest in a clarifying or detox shampoo, ensure that when you do wash your hair, you really wash out all the impurities. The other golden rule is don’t over stimulate the scalp by brushing or touching your hair. We all know the rule about not touching your face don’t we? Well that applies to your hair too.

THE PROBLEM – DRY AND BRITTLE
Whether it’s been weakened by chemical processing or subjected to daily heat styling, your hair looks and feels dry and is structurally damaged.
Rescue damaged hair with a deep conditioning treatment twice a week. You can also try putting oil on your hair such as castor, jojoba or rosemary oil before getting in the shower, massage it into the roots and leave in for 20 minutes. Follow up by shampooing twice. This will keep brittleness at bay and create overall hair health without weighing it down.

THE PROBLEM – FLAT AND LIFELESS
Hair that’s fine, flyaway and refuse to hold a curl or volume for longer than a couple of hours is often inherited, but over-using styling products can leave hair limp and hard to style too.
If you were born with fine hair, get a good cut and colour – soft layers add movement and fullness while colour swells the hair shaft adding the illusion of hair with more bounce. Lightweight shampoos and conditioners for fine hair won’t weigh it down, and always use a volumizing product and leave-in conditioner when blow-drying. Guilty of product over-load? Detox your hair using a detox shampoo.
