Fine hair, it’s time to discuss with Kevin Paul Finnell of F&M Hairdressing in Glasgow.

Within the salon, this is something we witness day in and day out with our wonderful clients. They have fine hair and lots of it, with many constantly asking how to make this fuller, more voluminous and just overall fabulous. The truth is, fine hair can be just as incredible as any other hair type, texture and consistency … it’s all about creating something that will complement the hair and make it the best it can possibly be.

As we prepare for the re-opening of the salons, we know we will be inundated with appointments, incredibly high hair expectations and of course long overdue hair TLC appointments, therefore it’s time to be prepared for all you clients with fine hair.

With 2021 the year to be bold and creative, below I share with you my favourite and must-have styles for those of you looking to complement your fine hair, and the best way to achieve the most fabulous results.

One Length Style

Yes, as simple as it says on the tin. Any one length style can instantly thicken up a look thanks to the blunt and sharp cut. Aim for a bob style or shoulder length look – this is such an easy way to give the illusion of a much thicker and voluminous style. It’s hugely popular and is a style that will always be on trend, especially right now! It’s a very confident look, giving a real feeling of strength.

Blunt is Best

A blunt cut is best to give off the illusion of thicker hair, so yes blunt is most definitely best. A cut so thick you can’t style or curl the ends is what you are looking for in order to give much needed volume to fine hair. Currently the blunt bob is on trend so this is great opportunity to become a little more drastic and try something a bit different.

The Textured bob

One of my favourite looks, which is often seen on celebrities such as Lucy Boynton, the textured bob is the easiest way to give hair that more voluminous look and feel. A much more relaxed style compared to the original, using a sea salt spray throughout, this look gives a real lived-in and boho vibe and also creates a thicker feeling.
