Meet Tiff J, owner of the very fabulous 3Thirty salon in Hackney.   It’s this address that appears more and more frequently in every curly girl and boys little black book of go-to’s.

“I founded the 3Thirty salon on a level of trust – we are a specialist salon and have earned a really lovely reputation as being ‘The Curl Salon’, so guests of all ages, from all walks of life travel from throughout the UK and Europe to see us.      These ‘guests’ most often because of their hair type always cite their previous ventures into salons as border-line horrific.   This is due, more often than not because the hair stylist did not understand the lay of the hair.  So for us each initial consultation can last for anything up to 45 minutes – in this time we win their trust.  At the end of the consultation not only have we won their trust, more often or not there is a flood of tears of sheer relief that the client has found the hairstylist that they have been looking for.”

HAIR asked Tiff J why it was so important to visit a curl specialist?

Curl specialists have invariably undertaken additional specialist training in the art of understanding, cutting and colouring curly hair.  Each head of hair is different and curl patterns vary considerably and it is vital that your hair stylist fully understands the lay of your hair before they start working with it.  This information is not something that is taught on a hairdressers current syllabus and therefore curl specialists have undertaken additional, specialist training to meet the remit.
