UNLEASHING GLAMOUR ON THE PITCH: THE FAINT CURLS CREATED FOR SOCCERAID PRESENTER, ALEX SCOTT

BY HER CELEBRITY HAIRDRESSER, JAY BIRMINGHAM

When it comes to the world of soccer, all eyes are usually fixated on the thrilling on-field action. However, when I heard that I had the honour of working with the lovely Alex Scott, this year’s SoccerAid presenter, my aim was to create a show-stopping hairstyle that would capture attention both on and off the field.
To achieve this, I drew inspiration from classic Hollywood glamour and modern red-carpet styles, infusing them with a touch of playful energy that matched the presenter’s vibrant personality. We decided on faint, sleek, curls as the cornerstone of the hairstyle, a choice that perfectly complemented her natural hair texture and added a touch of elegance to the overall look.
Preparation is key when creating a look that needs to look good all night, outside and on TV. I washed Alexs’ hair and used a professional smoothing hair mask to ensure her hair is kept in check throughout the night. I then dried the hair while using a light styling product to add texture and hold the hair.
I added Beauty Works DHS clip-ins in shade raven and then began curling the ends of the hair using a small barrel to create the sleek curls. Taking one section of hair at a time and wrapping it around the curling wand, starting from mid-length of the hair. Holding the hair around the barrel for a few seconds and then releasing. I repeated this process for all sections of the hair. After curling each section, I gently combed through the curls with a wide-toothed comb to loosen them up and create sleek, defined curls.
A small amount of lightweight curl-enhancing cream was applied to enhance sleekness and longevity of the style. For a final touch, I ran a hair oil through the ends of the curls to add shine and tame any frizz. I held the curls with clips to keep the hair in position before Alex stepped out on the pitch.

So, whether you’re cheering from the sidelines or stepping onto the pitch, never underestimate the transformative power of a perfectly styled curl!
